I wish...

Berlin artists' journal: low-tech, high-minded & self-serving.
Self centeredness in word, image, animation
. Journeys into subcultures; making & presenting art; club culture & electronica. Now with lots of useless time consuming extras.

Oh!
Wauw! Iek!
Oef!
Mmm?

Cecile Coiffard & Thierry Noir Show at Galerie Noir

French Berlin-Wall-artist ("Mauermaler" in German) Thierry Noir and sand painter Cecile Coiffard cooperated on a series of paintings that use the familiar "dickheads" of Thierry Noir, but overlay them with Coiffard's delicate sandpainting technique.

In 2003 Cecile Coiffard presented a cynical "V24U" series of missiles made out of desert sand for the Berlin Iraq war art show "Apotheke-Mitte".

Definitely my all time favourite Thierry Noirs!

Photographer Andreas Fux at "Apartment"

Here's some impressions of the new works of Andreas Fux in a show together with Sven Marquardt at the new "Appartment" art space, situated at Munzstrasse near Berlin Alexanderplatz.

Typical for Fux, what seemes to be a "normal" photo from afar, turnes out to be, at closer inspection, a pic of someone seemingly recovering from a good bashing.

Between them they have pictured all of Berlin's pierced, tattood, cut, burned or bruised club kids. And all of them came to the vernissage, everybody from the "Ostgut" club, and many creatures that hardly ever come out of the fluorescent corners of their darkroom of choice. It felt alot like an "Exactitudes" opening, slighltly sanitized, you know, minus the Dutch consumer kids. Not the only comparison between Andreas Fux and Ari Versluis.. Throw in Ali Kepenek and you got a bunch of queer photograpers that is definitey in each other's way sometimes.

It was the most cruisy art opening I ever went to: although the room was very harshly lit, the audiency was making eyes at each other in a very polysexually confusing manner..

Exactitudes Go Vogue

Multi-culty documentarists artists Ari Versluis and Ellie Uyttenbroek (of Apotheke Mitte fame) have contributed new series of "Exactitudes" (photographic studies in fashion uniformity) to the winter issue of "Vogue Hommes".
A Vogue Hommes that has become quite political and deep by and by, what is happening to the world when you can't even count on your Vogue to be all superficial and sissy anymore? At any rate, a true collectors item with other great spreads by artists like David LaChapelle.
