Berlin artists' journal, low-tech, high-minded & self-serving.
Self centeredness in word, image, animation
. Journeys into subcultures; making & presenting art; club culture & electronica. Now with lots of useless time consuming extras.

Recognition at Last
..

H ere's some exclusive selected shots from our atelier cam, showing progress on the new series of stencilled portraits I mentioned some days ago. (The first image's not a painting, but the stencil itself, after first use.)

The second pic's shows Paulus' first paintings of that new set in progress. We're keeping them nice & simple, spreading it thin but broad.

They'll have a large "Pattern & Decoration" aspect, the patterns layered over the faces, like the 60's op-art portraits inside that one Velvet Underground record with the Warhol banana.

I've also been making paintings of wrestling guys, called "Faceless Lucaneros" that I've put online in my shop at once, they are for a "call for submissions" that caught my fancy, a nice silly call by "Art Prostitute".

The essay about club-art & "painting music" I finished a few days ago has been referred to in Art Forum.. Well, in their "talkback" corner, but still. It's a forum with a thread about constructivism, leading to some interesting pieces on art & participation, like this one by Stella Rollig. But a lot of the forum is real digital toilet graffiti though, those arty types going really crazy if you give them anonymity just like the rest of us. Forget about french philosophers, -let's do some limericks!
